Red Green Blue: A History of Australian Video Art

Curated by Matthew Perkins, ‘Red Green Blue‘ brings together works from the 1970s through to the present day, drawn from the archives, artist holdings and the Griffith University Art Collection. Presented over three episodes, each running for a month, the exhibition takes the viewer on a historical journey that is also a celebration of the ongoing dynamism and depth of Australian video art practice.

This exhibition features a video excerpt from Turbulence: an interactive museum of unnatural history, which premiered at the ACM SIGGRAPH Art Show in 1994. The work screens in Episode Three – ‘Blue: Perception and Encounter’, which runs from Tuesday 6 June to Saturday 8 July 2017 at Griffith University Art Gallery. Consciência Cibernética [?]

Jon McCormack's Eden at Itáu Cultural, São Paulo, BrazilJon McCormack's Eden at Itáu Cultural, São Paulo, Brazil

An exhibition of my work, Eden, features as part of the exhibition Consciência Cibernética (Cybernetic Consciousness) at the Itaú Cultural centre in São Paulo, Brazil.

Featuring ten works by Brazilian and foreign artists using technology in art the exhibition takes an artistic look at the evolution of machines and asks whether they will be able to achieve functions previously performed only by the human brain.

In the Symposium, which took place on the first two days of the exhibition, artists who are part of the exhibition discussed their works and creation processes, contextualised with presentations by experts in the areas of artificial intelligence and quantum information theory.

The exhibition runs from Thursday 8th June until Sunday 6th August 2017.
