A photographic series of stacked macro images of found nature
Following one of Melbourne's long pandemic lockdowns in 2020, I found myself returning to the studio. On the daily walk in, I would often notice seedpods and other natural detritus scattered everywhere. These would normally be swept away, but due to the lack of human activity, they were abundant. I collected specimens that I found, and brought them into the studio for photographing. Each image is a composite of between 10 and 50 focus stacked images. The forms range in size from just a few millimetres to about 12 centimetres.
The stark, black background and continuous focus renders the scale ambiguous, allowing the form itself to become the subject. These are indeed, megaforms.
